In The Name of God: I, Thomas Smith of Harford County, State of Maryland; Farmer being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God, do constitute make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the manner following: Principally and First of all, I recommend my Soul to the hands of Almighty God who gave it, and my body to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executors, and such worldly goods as I am now possessed of I leave in manner following: I will and positively order my lawful Debts and funeral charges to be paid. First, I Will and Bequeath to my dearly beloved wife, Hannah Smith, all that part of a tract of land bought of John Stumps and Richard Dullam, laying on the South East Side of the Elbow branch now in the possession of James Smith, together with the fourth part of the produce of the Orchard growing on Neighbours Good Will during her natural life, then the land above mentioned to devolve to and become the property of my three sons, James, William, and Nathaniel, their Heirs and Assigns forever share and share equal; also, three Negroes, Jacob, Jean, and Rachal during her natural life then Jacob to become the property of my son Nathaniel, his paying one third part of his value to my Son, James, and one other third part to my son, William, said Negro to be valued at my wife's Decease, to become the property of my Daughter, Mary McCrackin, her Heirs and Assigns forever; and Jean, at my wife's decease to become the property of my Daughter, Hannah, her Heirs and Assigns forever. I likewise give and bequeath to my wife, aforesaid, one bed and furniture together with one third of all my moveable property, except such as are hereinafter mentioned, to her heirs and assigns forever. Likewise I Will and Bequeath to my son, Ralph Smith, the sum of Ten Shillings and no more. Likewise I Will and Bequeath to my son, Hugh Smith, the sum of Ten Shillings and no more. Likewise I Will and Bequeath to my son, Thomas Smith, the sum of Ten Shillings and no more. Likewise I Will and Bequeath to my son, John Smith, the sum of Ten Shillings and no more. Likewise I Will and Bequeath to my sons, James Smith, William Smith, and Nathaniel Smith, all the remaining part of the aforesaid Tract of Land on which my wife was left her part as before mentioned, together with a Tract of Land by the name of Smiths Mistake, also one other Tract of Land known by the name of Neighbours Good Will, to them, their Heirs and Assigns, forever share and share equal. Likewise I Will and Bequeath to my daughter, Susanna Gorrell, the sum of Tin Shillings and no more. Likewise I Will and Bequeath to my daughter, Olivia Inghram, the sum of Tin Shillings and no more. Likewise I Will and Bequeath to my daughter, Elizabeth Garrett, the sum of Tin Shillings and no more. Likewise I give and Bequeath to my daughter, Mary McCrackin, one Negro wench named Rachel, at her Mother's decease, her heirs and assigns forever. Likewise I Will and Bequeth to my daughter, Hannah Smith, one Negro Wench named Jean, at her Mother's decease, also a horse and saddle and bed and furniture to her, her heirs and assigns forever; I also leave my aforesaid daughter, Hannah, one half acre of Land together with the House and fishing ground purchased of Benjamin Johnson during her mother's life, then to devolve to and become the property of my three sons, James, William, and Nathaniel, to them, their heirs and assigns, forever. Likewise my Will is that my Executors dispose of my Title in and to a tract of land purchased in Partnership with John Loave and Micaiah Mitchell, for the purpose of discharging my debts and the remainder, if any, to be equally divided amongst my five youngest children, Mary McCrackin, Hanna Smith, William Smith, Nathanial Smith, and James Smith. Likewise my Will is that my Executors dispose of the remaining two thirds of my moveable property for the purpose of discharging my debts, the remainder, if any, to be divided equally amongst my five youngest children before mentioned. I likewise Will and Bequeath to my son, Nathaniel, one Sorrel Mare which he now claims. And lastly I constitute and appoiint John Creswell and James Smith to be sole Executors of this, my Last Will and Testament, revoking and disannulling all former wills heretofore by me made and confirming this and none other to be my Last Will and Testament in Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal, this Eleventh Day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety-One. Following is a transcript the will, of my 4G Grandmother 127) Hannah Smith, executed in May 1807 and probated September 1815. In The Name Of God Amen: I Hannah Smith of Harford County, do make and publish this , my last Will and Testament, in the manner following, that is to say, I do hereby manumit and set free my Negro boy, Emanuel, in fifteen years from the present date, also my Negro boy, Webster, in seventeen years from the present date, also my Negro boy, Hampton, in nineteen years from the present date, also my Negro boy, Winston, in twenty-five years from the present date, also my Negro boy, Hampton, son of Rachel, in twenty-seven years from the present date. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary McCrackin, my Negroes, Hampton and Winston, sons of Rachel, to serve for and during the terms specified above, but in case the said Mary McCrackin should decease before the said Winston and Hampton shall have served out the term specified above as it is my will, they should then be free and released from bondage. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son, Nathaniel Smith, my Negro boy, Emanual, son of Hampton, also my Negro girl, Ida, to him, his Executors, Administrators, and assigns, to serve for and during terms specified above. ITEM: All residue of my Estate not herein before given to be sold and the money equally divided amongst my surviving children after paying my just debts.
